What's new...
I am moving ahead with getting my novel out there. It is entitled The Cure for Love: a novel about life's most sublime affliction and you can click on that page (above) and listen to an excerpt from the audiobook that is currently being prepared.
Also, I am working on a new App called "Take Two" with my colleague, Dr. Roy Ettenger. It focuses on resolving conflict in marital (and other committed adult relationships) and will provide assessment, instruction, and an innovative interactive tool to help with this enduring relational conundrum.
Psychologist
I have been dedicated to the practice of psychotherapy for almost thirty years. I currently divide my clinical hours between my office in Santa Monica and Santa Barbara. I work with a variety of adult psychological issues, including mood disorders, PTSD, addictions, personality disorders, relationship conflicts, and adult developmental adjustments. A particular focus of my practice is in marriage, couples (both straight and gay) and adult sibling relationship counseling.
I am accepting new patients. The links above should help you contact me should you wish an initial consultation.
Writer
Despite my primary career focus on psychotherapy, I have also actively pursued my lifelong interest in writing. I received my bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri and my first master's degree in Television and Film Writing from UCLA.
On this site, you will find archived most of my Healthspan columns that explore the physical and emotional realities of being a Baby Boomer in the battle against aging. There is lots of useful information to be found as well as (hopefully) a laugh or two.
Current projects include my recently completed novel The Cure for Love. and a new assignment as the "Life Matters" columnist for The Hills, a magazine based in Kansas City. I am also very busy working on a new non-fiction book, mining my thirty years of experience doing marital and couples counseling: Relationships Gone Bad.
